Christopher Moore

Christopher Moore (born 1957 in Toledo, Ohio[Autobiographical sketch entitled "Cambria Author"] from July 1996) is an American writer of absurdist fiction. His novels typically involve conflicted everyman characters suddenly struggling through supernatural or extraordinary circumstances. These off-the-wall characters, wacky settings, and bizarre storylines often address legitimate political and social concerns. Inheriting a humanism from his love of John Steinbeck and a sense of the absurd from Kurt Vonnegut, Moore is a best-selling author with major cult status.
Although the screenplay rights to some of Moore's books, such as Practical Demonkeeping and Bloodsucking Fiends, have been purchased by Disney, none have yet been made into films. As of June 2006 Moore has been living in San Francisco, California, after several years' residence on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
