Citadel Station, or simply Citadel, is a fictional orbiting space station within the futuristic cyberpunk universe of the System Shock series.
Built by the powerful TriOptimum Corporation, Citadel is highly advanced and versatile, and is used for reasearch and mining purposes. It houses medical and scientific laboratories, medical facilities, storage areas, hangars, and a very powerful mining laser. All systems were placed under the control of a single artificial intelligence named SHODAN. In 2072, due to the efforts of a corrupt TriOptimum executive named Edward Diego, the ethical constaints on the AI were removed, causing it to go rogue, as portrayed in System Shock.
