City of Boroondara

The City of Boroondara is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The council was re-formed in 1994 by the amalgamation of the former Cities of Camberwell, Hawthorn and Kew, which in turn were originally part of the Shire of Boroondara. It has an area of 60 km², and in 2001, it had a population of 160,000. Boroondara is also home to the greatest density of private schools in the world. Some of these schools, mostly in the Kew area include, Xavier College, Methodist Ladies' College (MLC), Trinity Grammar School, Ruyton Girls' School, Carey Baptist Grammar School, Scotch College, Fintona Girls' School, Genazzano FCJ College and many others.
