City of Hobsons Bay

Named after Captain William Hobson, the City of Hobsons Bay is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It was founded on June 22, 1994 during the forced amalgamations of local councils by the Kennett Government, and ended up being formed mostly by the former City of Williamstown and City of Altona local councils. It is located in the western suburbs of Melbourne. It has an area of 65.0 square kilometres. In 2001 it had a population of 82,000.
