Classic Trash was one of the biggest abandonware websites of the early 2000s. It offered hundreds of discontinued PC, ZX Spectrum, and Commodore 64 games. The site had an active community with an IRC channel as well as a forum which spawned several subforums over time. In 2001 the IDSA (now called the ESA) threatened to sue unless the site removed games created by its members, which formed of the majority of the site's games. The site's visitor numbers and advertising revenue dropped as a result. The site was relaunched as a freeware games site, and changed name to Ping Games. The relaunch was unsuccessful and the site closed down in 2004.
