Encyclopedia : C : CL : CLI : Clivus

''The clivus is also a part of the cranium between the basilar part of occipital bone and the sphenoid bone. ([link])
Clivus, Latin for "inclination", is a composting toilet system with an inclined bottom. Clivus Multrum is an inclining composting room, which was first built as a prototype 1939 in Tyresö, Sweden by art teacher Rikard Lindström.

A handful of prototypes were constructed and are still in operation as of 2005. The process has been dubbed "enclosed, long-term composting" and is characterized by being odor-free, extremely low maintenance and able to yield a clean, pathogen-free liquid fertilizer that can be used in agriculture.
