The Columbine mine massacre was a confrontation between police and striking coal miners on November 21, 1927. A strike was called by the Industrial Workers of the World at the Columbine Mine in Serene, Colorado, a company town.

According to those present at the strike, members of the Colorado State Police, armed with pistols, rifles, riot guns, and tear gas grenades, clashed with strikers; several strikers were shot and died.

The state police later testified that they had not used machine guns in the fight. The miners and some witnesses testified that machine guns were used.
