Comarcas of Asturias
Encyclopedia : C : CO : COM : Comarcas of Asturias
Asturias, a province and an autonomous community in Spain, is divided into eight comarcas. These comarcas are not an administrative division of the autonomous community. The comarcas in Spain are a grouping of municipalities that are encouraged (but not required) to work together to achieve objectives. Comarca is a Spanish-language word roughly equivalent to the English-language county; the word in the Asturian language (protected but not co-official with Spanish in Asturias) is cotarru, plural cotarros.
