Conakry International Airport , also known as Gbessia International Airport, is an airport located in Conakry, the capital of the Republic of Guinea in West Africa.

The Conaky Gbessia Internetional Airport is divided into 2 terninals: The National terminal and the International terminal.

The airport services a number of West African airlines as in Air Ivoire, Air Senegal and Slok Airlines, and a number of North African and Europeen airlines: SN Brussels, Air France and Royal Air Maroc. The Gbessia airport is quite well known for the hassles that the "customs" officials like to inflict on white people, and due to the lack of X-Ray machines, they insist quite often to open your bags. For all foreigners, a valid guinean visa and a vaccination card is a must. The airport employees have a strange custom of taking off the travel tags of your bags furnished at the begining of your trip. Very few people speak english in the airport. When entering the airport you will see a huge amount of hustle and bustle and this is normal because there are civilians "helping" out the passengers. People will ask you to help you out with your bags and you may ask the help of a person, as payment you can pay him about 5000 GNF per bag or about 1 dollar. Take in consideration that this is a good amount as the average guinean gets about 7500 GNF a day.
