This article refers to a specific usage of the term "congregation". For other uses, see congregation.

A congregation is the group of members who make up a local Christian church, Jewish synagogue, or other religious assembly. It can also refer to the people who are present at a service in the building, particularly in contrast to the ministers or choir who may be seated apart from the general congregation.
