Connections (game show)

Encyclopedia : C : CO : CON : Connections (game show)

Connections, A Television Game show, which was produced by Granada Television and was aired on the ITV Network from 1984 - 1990.

The game involved two contestants, who buzz on a question, earn points, reveal picture, try and spot connection to win bonuses. Also, there was a Find The Figure round. This was where a correct answer revealed either a number or a mathematical symbol. The sum went in a clockwise direction around the board, ending with an 'equals' sign, and the contestants had to buzz in to give the answer to the sum, which was concealed behind the centre square.

The winner went through to the end game where they'd be given 45 seconds and try an answer eight questions. If they got one right then one of the screens would reveal a letter (the first letter of the answer). After the eight questions whatever time they had left the contestant would use to try and find the eight word, arranged clockwise. This was a lot more difficult if some of the letters were missing and without knowing where the word started. This changed in a later version of the show by having the eight letters arranged in circular form, but still without revealing where it actually started.

The Show was originally presented by Sue Robbie, with Richard Madeley taking over in 1988 & Simon Potter presented the final two series in 1989 & 1990.
