Conquer Online is a F2P Chinese Fantasy themed MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) for Windows PCs, developed by TQ Digital. The Conquer Online landscape is a 2D rendition of mythical China with straightforward combat-focused gameplay. Like most MMORPGs, the game has servers located in different parts of the world, allowing players from different countries to play together in real time. TQ Digital updates the game about twice each month, and server maintenance occurs every two days.
Downloading & Costs
Downloading and playing Conquer Online is totally free. However, the game operators allow players to purchase virtual, in-game items for real-life currency. Currently the only in-game item for sale is the Dragon Ball, but in the past meteors have been available for purchase. The operators also sell Conquer Online installation CDs for those who cannot download the installation files or would like to own a hard copy of the game. However, It is strictly against the Conquer Online terms of service for players to trade their in-game items for real-life currency and TQ Digital will attempt to terminate all accounts associated with this process.
The game can also be downloaded in its Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish versions.
Gameplay
Guilds and Guild Wars
Conquer Online allows a high leveled players to start their own guild for a cost. Anyone can join a guild, however, to leave one, the person must pay to the guild 20000 silver (ingame currency). Guilds are controlled by the guild leader and deputy leaders. If a guild has different branches, each branch will also have a branch manager. Joining a guild has it's pros and cons. A guild helps a new gamer find friends and receive help. However, a guild may also have enemies, who are proned to attack you on sight. Guilds can also help compensate for experience points lost after being killed by another player.Much of the game is based on its free player kill system and the guild wars which occur every week. During the guild war period, every guild who wishes may attempt to capture the guild pole from the guild who currently owns it, by gaining access to the guild castle and attacking the pole. When the pole's life bar has depleted, whichever guild did the most damage to the pole now owns it, and may control the guild doors so as to protect the pole until the end of the guild war period. Once the guild war period has ended, the guild which last owned the pole wins, and some benefits are granted to the reigning guild.
Player Killing
The game's free PK system allows one character to attack any other character at any time it wishes, no matter the level or whether the target agrees. There are only four areas in which one is prevented from attacking others: character's houses, the market, the furniture store, and the training ground. Players are not prevented from PKing in towns, though the towns are guarded. These guards will attack those who try to PK within their sight. The guards are powerful enough to kill most players in one hit, making it difficult to PK in town. There is also PK Arena, 2nd Rebirth Map, and Jail where one does not receive PK points for attacking and killing other players, there is no experiece loss from PKing is in these areas as well. While, and shortly after attacking someone with a white or red coloured name, the PKer's name flashes blue. There is no penalty at all for attacking and killing a player whose name is either flashing blue or coloured black. Otherwise, each successful PK will give a player 10 PK points, unless the player is a member of a guild and PKs a member of an enemied guild, the PK point penalty is 5 instead of the normal 10. Depending on the amount of PK points, the characters name will be white, red or black. White is when a player has between 0 and 29 PK points, red is when a player has between 30 and 100 PK points and black is when a player has over 100 PK points. A character's name will flash if they attack a 'red-named' player, but they will receive no PK points. Upon being killed, a player with a white name will drop only carried items, a red named player may also drop some of their equipped items, whilst a player with a black name will lose all their equipped items and go to jail.
There are four PK setting: Peace, Capture, Team, and PK. Peace is a setting that restricts the player from attacking anything other then monsters. Capture allows the players to attack flashing or black named players. The team setting allows a player to attack anyone other then their own team members, and PK setting allows a player to attack anyone without restrictions. The PK setting also allows you to attack guards, guards (for reborn player e.g. iron guard, gold guard etc), and patrols. The default setting everyone a player logs on is Capture. In the past the PK setting was saved by the game, meaning the player will log in with the PK mode they last logged out with. Then Peace mode was made the default PK mode upon logging in. Capture was then made the default PK mode instead, which it is today.
Combat and Leveling
Skills
There are a number of skills available through Conquer Online, though the skills a player gains access to changes depending on what class they choose to play as. There are two main types of skill:- Combat skills. These inflict direct damage of some kind onto an enemy.
- Attribute skills. These change a character's attributes in some way, such as increasing attack or defense.
Experience
Conquer Online utilizes an experience point system similar to that which is common to all MMORPGs. Killing monsters increases your EXP until it reaches 100%, wherupon the player's character will advance to the next level. Characters recieve experience per successive attack made, and some bonus experience is rewarded upon killing the monster. Players can also gain Team experience, which is gained when a Team member kills a monster within a certain range of the player. The experience curve of Conquer online is slow but has jumps at intervals where the game is designed to make leveling easier. These 'jumps' occur at level 10, level 20, level 40, level 70, level 90, level 100, and many more jumps after level 100. While you can change the color of your equipment, there is only one type of equipment you can wear for your level and your class. Weapons are limited for taoists and archers (two of the possible classes), but warriors and trojans can choose from a variety of weapons.
Power Leveling
There is a powerleveling system in Conquer Online. Higher-leveled players are encouraged to powerlevel the beginners for the reward of Virtue Points, and an insignificant amount of silvers (the game's currency). Although all players can help others level, only a player above level 70 helping to level another character at least 20 levels lower then themself can receive virtue points for their efforts. For each level that the beginner gains while in the powerleveler's team, the team leader receives a set amount of virute points. The amount of VP's vary from the level of the beginner - a higher level gives more VP's, since it takes more time for them to achieve the level. Powerleveling a level 1 and 2 character gives 0 VPs.Weapons
Trojans and warriors (and to a certain extent, archers, provided they have the strength to wield a weapon) may choose to wield many different types of weapons. There are two categories of weapons: one-handed, and two-handed. Some one-handed weapons are clubs, blades, and swords, while some two-handed weapons are poleaxes, halberts, wands, and longhammers. Each type of weapon has advantages and disadvantages compared to the rest.
Generally speaking, the weapons are catergorized in either a low-damage/high accuracy group or a high-damage/low accuracy group.
The most widely-used one-handed weapons in Conquer Online include Clubs, Swords, and Blades. Other one-handed weapons are rarely used and typically have a low market value. The most widely-used two-handed weapons include Spear and Wand.
Upgrading Equipment
Equipment has a range of qualities, starting with Normal, then Refined, Unique, Elite and lastly Super. Equipment may be upgraded in two ways: 'Dragonballs' may be used to upgrade an items's quality; meteors can be used to increase an item's level, which raises the required character level to use the item but also makes it a bit stronger. There are 2 kinds of NPCs for upgrading both the quality and the level of the equipment. One type of NPC charges only one meteor or dragonball, depending on the type of upgrade, however there is a chance he will fail at upgrading, which results in damage to your equipment. The other type of NPC charges a greater amount of dragonballs or meteors; however, they do not fail. The level and quality of the equipment effects both the success rate of the first type of NPC, and the cost of the second type of NPC. Upgrading an item with meteors or dragonballs has a very small chance of adding a socket (to a maximum of two) to the item.'Fixed' items have the most powerful properties of any type of item, but are limited to under level 60 and cannot be upgraded in any way. These items cannot be created, only found from items dropped by monsters.
An item may also be 'composed'. This process adds "+#" to the end of the item's name, where # is a number between 1 and 9. This, like the quality, makes the item more powerful. The higher the #, the more expensive it is to upgrade. Unlike many other games with similar systems, it is almost impossible to make a +9 item, and there are currently none in existence on the official English servers.
Gems can be mined and used to add an effect to items, such as increased damage, weapon proficiency, and overall experience gain. To insert a gem into an item, it must have a socket. There are a maximum of two sockets per item. In Conquer 2.0, a new gem was introduced which reduces damage taken. Also in the patch, new item bonuses were added: 'blessing' and 'enchanting'. 'Blessed' items decrease the damage taken by the character wearing them, and enchanted items increase the character's health. Gems come in three qualities: normal, refined, and super. The effect of the gem is higher, depending on the quality.
Economy
Conquer Online has a quickly-changing inflation rate. Due to the ever-growing high-level population, the prices of certain low-level items decrease over time. However, other items, such as meteors and dragonballs, are in constant demand, and because there are relatively few cash sinks in Conquer, the prices for these few high-demand items grandually inflate. Conquer Online has a free market system which allows players to buy and sell items through market stalls in a special non-PK market map.Quests
Quests are divided into categories based on a character's level. Quests help a character gain possesion of otherwise hard to acquire items such as rare gems and weapons. They often require the player to obtain special items from slaying certain monsters and bringing it to an NPC who will give a reward.Holiday Quests
During holiday seasons, in-game events are held, which usually last about a week. Players are able to complete quests to receive valuable and/or holiday themed items. An example of such a reward is the Love Forever ring, granted to couples who complete the Valentine's season quest.Battle with cheaters
Cheating is becoming an increasing problem in Conquer Online. Players use a variety of hacks, cheats, and bots (most notably the mining bot Cotobo) to reap an unfair advantage over other players. The GMs have been largely unsuccessful at policing the botting activity.Class & Character Info
There are four possible classes in Conquer Online, though one of the classes, the taoist class, splits off into fire taoist and water taoist at level 40. No matter which class is chosen, the basic character options are male or female, and small or large. The small and large characters are mostly only different in their appearance (and with clothes on, they are not always different sizes), though there are a few other variations in certain aspects of the characters. This is mostly to do with jumping speed while unarmed or with certain weapons equipped. Prior to the release of Version 2.0 of Conquer Online, a female taoist could only choose the large-bodied character. Each type of body armor has a different look, and can only be worn when a certain level has been obtained, and every class has different looking body armor. Each piece of armour may be dyed one of seven colours. Characters may wear a hat (with the exception of the trojan class) which also appears on the character and can also be dyed. The character could choose not to wear a hat, however, and opt for wear earrings, which allows the hairstyle to be seen. There are currently 16 different hairstyles to choose from, one of which is a bald head. Hair may also be dyed.
The classes are as follows:
Archer
The archer class uses a bow as a weapon, and the armor appearances range from rags made of leather and/or fur (low level) to elegant capes and wings (high level). It is widely popular for its ability to hunt for items quickly and its ability to fly. The archer skill 'scatter' aids in hunting for items as it allows a large number of enemies to be hit at the same time. Items that drop from the monsters are potentially valuable, so the more monsters that are killed, the more efficient the hunt is.Archers are also common powerlevelers. Powerleveling is performed in a similar way to hunting; the archer will use scatter on monsters which he/she can kill fairly quickly. The purpose is to give team experience to lower level characters in the team.
The archer skill 'fly' enables the player to float in the air for a period of time, which renders them immune to all physical attacks. While flying, the archer is only vunerable to ranged attacks, such as arrows or magic.
Trojan
The Trojan class is a powerful melee class due mainly to their ability to dual wield two one-handed weapons. This ability becomes available after a 'promotion' at level 40. Trojans have the highest hitpoints by default (non-reborn), than all other classes but their armour offers little magical defence. This leaves them potentially vulnerable to the taoist class which uses magic as its primary method of dealing damage. The Trojan class armor has the second-lowest magic defense rating out of the four classes, with warrior armor having the least magic defense. Upon level 15, Trojans can recieve the XP skill Cyclone that temporarily increases the user's attack speed and movement speed. The Duration of the Cyclone XP skill can be increased upon successive kills of enemies while Cyclone is active. One feature that comes with the Trojan's level 40 promotion, and the ability to wield two weapons, is a skill called Hercules: an area of effect attack that attacks several enemies in close proximity to the player. The damage of the Hercules skill is approximately half of the user's attack power, making it somewhat weak with average weaponry. To use hercules two of the same type weapons (Ex. Club and Club) must be equipped to use it. Dual Wielding does not mean the character can attack twice at once, but instead refers to the fact that they deal more damage per hit. The dual weapon wielding ability is exclusive to the trojan class only. The left-hand weapon that the trojan wields adds half of the weapon's attack power, dexterity, and frequency to the user's stats. The Ph-Damage and Accuracy boost given by composition is exempt from this stat penalty.
Warrior
Warriors are similar to Trojans, but they specialize in defense rather than dealing damage. They may use a one-handed weapon and a shield, or a two-handed weapon. A two handed weapon naturally offers a high attack power, but at the cost of a decreased defence.Just as with other classes, warriors have their own special skills, such as Dash. The dash attack uses a the warrior's shield to push an opponent back while dealing damage. The dash attack can cause even greater damage when the opponent is dashed into an object that makes them unable to move further backwards, such as a wall, pillar, or cliff. Dash is useful if a player is camping on an item, since it can push the person off of the item. However, dash will use up the shield's durability. Also warriors have an XP skill called superman. Superman helps warriors level up faster because it will temporarily increase the warrior's attack power by 10 times, and increase attack speed by approximately 2 times. The duration of the Superman XP skill can be increased upon successive kills of enemies while Superman is active.
Taoist
Taoists are the only class that uses mana, making them the only spellcasters other than certain monsters. All taoists (sub-40, fire, and water) wear the same traditional Chinese robes as their armour. Appearance-wise, it is impossible to tell which subclass a taoist is unless they cast a class-specific spell.Below Level 40
A taoist below level 40 has a primary attack called 'thunder', which allows them to attack one monster from a distance, and a healing spell called 'cure'. When the taoist reaches level 40, it may choose one of the taoist subclasses: fire taoist or water taoist.
Fire Taoist
A fire taoist specializes in magic attack. He/she may use powerful spells such as 'tornado' or 'fire meteor' to attack one monster, or, starting at level 65, he/she may cast a 'circle of fire' around him/herself to attack many monsters at once. Despite the fact, in PvP, that the 'water taoist' and 'archer' may also attack a player from a distance, they could be considered weaker due to the ability to deal less damage in one strike.
Water taoist
The 'water taoist' is the sole support class. It has many support spells which are advantageous to other players, and its primary attack is limited to the spell called 'fire'.
It may seem strange for a water taoist to use a primary spell called fire, while the fire taoist's primary spell is most often tornado, but there is an explanation. Originally, the water taoist was limited to using only the attack thunder, given to all taoists starting at level 1. However, there was a glitch that allowed water taoists to learn the spell fire, which was originally meant to be a skill for fire taoists before they learnt better spells. This glitch was purposely never fixed in order to allow water taoists to be a little stronger, since thunder is a very weak spell.
Even with the spell 'fire', however, the water taoist has a low attack power, and they are unable to hit multiple targets at once. The spell called 'pray' can be learnt at level 70 and enables the 'water taoist' to bring another player back from the dead at the cost of 1000 mana. A similar resurrection skill can be learned at level 40, but this is an XP skill.
However after rebirth a water taoist who reborns into another water taoist can become very powerful when wielding a two handed weapon as they can re-allot their attribute points so they are very accurate. And since water taoists gain double exp after level 70 water->water taoists can level extremely fast, and are also effective at pking.
Rebirth
1st Rebirth
Once a character reaches level 120, he/she is allowed to be reborn to a level 15 character of any of the four classes but for a Water Taoist they are able to get there first reborn at level 110. Being reborn allows the character to start over from level 15 with extra attributes (55 being the most), receive a unique weapon with a hidden spell and many more special ingame advantages that do not apply or are not open to non-reborn characters. There are several other advantages to being reborn as the same class. You can receive new skills, such as 'dodge' for fire taoist/fire taoist reborn characters. Reborn characters are able to summon a guard (iron, copper, silver, then gold) or pet (bat for trojan, fire rat for warrior, skeleton for archer, and magic bat for taoists). For first reborn you will get:

2. Summon Monsters: A reborn character may Learn summon skills from Mighty Tao in Job Center (66,33). There are 6 summon skills. All level 15 reborn characters can learn Summon Guard. After level 40, each race can learn a special summon skill. A Euxenite Ore is required for learning Summon Guard, and a Gold Ore is required for a special summon skill.

Reborn Archer: The Summoned Skeleton can help Archers to attack the enemies. Reborn Water Taoist: The summoned Bat Boss is Water Taoist's substitute with high health. Reborn Fire Taoist: The summoned Bat is Fire Taoist's substitute with high health. (This has been taken right for the Conquer Online site.)
2nd Rebirth
2nd Rebirth has been postponed until further notice due to community complaint on the skills retained and gained from it. The feature doesn't currently exist, but it will soon. Though there is now a lot of information about it which can be found from the Conquer Online site. [].The levels for the second rebirth are the same of those for the first - level 120 for all since they recently changed the level of the rebirth for waters to 120.
