Continental O-200

The Continental O-200 engine is an important aircraft engine. It is produced by the Continental Motors corporation. It produces 100 hp (75 kW) and weighs 188 lb (85 kg). It has been used in many aircraft including the very common Cessna 150.

The O-200 is a four-stroke cycle engine. This engine is a horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine with updraft carburetor. It has two magnetos, each of which fires one spark plug per cylinder. There is one exhaust and one intake valve per cylinder, all activated by pushrods. The engine is air cooled and very simple. The typical O-200 has a time between overhaul of 1,800 hours, and costs about US$12,000 to overhaul.

The O-200 can use normal car gasoline as well as avgas.
