Convergys Corporation provides outsourced customer care, human resource, and billing services worldwide. The company operates in three segments: Customer Care (CMG); Employee Care (HR); and the Information Management Group (IMG). The Customer Care segment provides various services, including customer service, technical support, accounts receivable management, sales account management, business process outsourcing, and business intelligence solutions. The Employee Care segment offers a range of services, such as benefits administration, human resource administration, learning, payroll administration, and recruiting and staffing. Its Information Management Group provides billing and information software and services that addresses various segments of the communications industry, including wireless, wireline, cable, cable telephony, broadband, direct broadcast satellite, and the Internet. Convergys primarily serves communications, technology, financial services, and other industries. The company was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The company grew from Cincinnati Bell Information Systems and MATRIXX, both subsidiaries of Cincinnati Bell, and AT&T Solutions Customer Care (formerly AT&T American Transtech), which was sold to Cincinnati Bell in 1998; an IPO in 1998 made it a fully independent company. Since then, Convergys has acquired numerous companies and expanded its business to employ over 60,000 people in 40 countries around the world. Its headquarters is in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Most recently the company has employed a strategy of diversification to offset its significantly declining market share in telecom billing.
