A cookie exchange, also known as a "cookie swap", is an event where many people exchange cookies with one another.
Cookie exchanges are popular in suburban areas. Each person brings a set number of the same cookies based on the number of people doing the exchanging. They exchange cookies, bringing home a wide variety of cookies. There may be refreshments at a cookie exchange, such as hot chocolate, hot apple cider, or coffee. There may also be bagels and chocolate candies.
A cookie swap is not only an event to exchange cookies with other people, but it is an event for bonding as well. Cookie swaps are especially popular at Christmas time.
