Corin Tucker (born November 9 1972) is a singer and guitarist from the rock band Sleater-Kinney. Although the band was formed in Olympia, Washington, Tucker still describes herself as "a small-town girl" from Eugene, Oregon.
Before forming Sleater-Kinney, Tucker played in Heavens to Betsy, an influential Riot Grrl band who recorded a split single with Bratmobile, a couple of other singles for independent record labels and an LP, Calculated. Heavens to Betsy frequently played shows with Excuse 17, for whom Carrie Brownstein played guitar and sang, and the two bands both appeared on the compilation LP Free To Fight. The two women began playing together and this led to the formation of Sleater-Kinney. The band went had one previous drummer, Lora MacFarlane, before meeting Janet Weiss prior to recording their third album, "Dig Me Out". Weiss has been with the band ever since. In 1998 Tucker's side project, Cadallaca, released their first album, "introducing Cadallaca". They released an additional ep on Kill Rock Stars, Out West, in 2000.
Tucker is married to filmmaker Lance Bangs. They have one child, Marshall Tucker Bangs.
