Cotgrave is a town in the borough of Rushcliffe, in Nottinghamshire, England, lying south east of Nottingham. The town lies on the Grantham Canal, opened in 1797, but it did not grow until the discovery of coal in the area in about 1950. A coal mine was established in 1960, but it closed in 1994. Cotgrave has a population of around 7,000 people. There are three parks, two of which are currently closed due to vandalism.
