Council of Canadians

The Council of Canadians is a left-wing, non-partisan, think tank in Canada that was founded in 1985. There are chapters of the organization in cities and regions across the country.
They work to protect Canadian independence by promoting progressive policies on fair trade, clean water, safe food, universal health care, and other issues of social and economic concern to Canadians.
The Chair is Maude Barlow. The executive director is John Urquhart.
The Council publishes a seasonal magazine called Canadian Perspectives.
