The Countdown Arc is a 5 issue Arc of The Spectacular Spider-Man series. It features Spider-Man trying to figure out what Doctor Octopuss' newest scheme is.

The Countdown Arc (possible spoilers)

Part 1 Part 1 starts off with Spider-Man on his way from school. He is greeted by a group of friends playing videogames in his apartment. Peter notices that they brought over Flash. Who is brain-dead due to a previous encounter with the Green Goblin. Peter is noticebly uncomfortable with Flash being there because he feels responsible for what happened to him. But Mary Jane convinces him that it's part of Flash' therapy to engage in regular daily routines. After what seems to be hours of videogame playing, the group finally leaves after unsuccessfully completing the game. The scecne shifts to Doctor Octopuss' lab and the tv is discussing middle eastern conflicts. On Spider-Man's nightly patrol he encounters Doc Ock. Doc Ock implies that he has been watching his patterns very carfully. He then makes a proposal for Spider-Man to unmask in front of everyone in Time Square. Spider-Man laughs at Doc Ock's proposal and is then attacked. Successfully hitting Spider-Man a few times, Doc Ock them flees the scene.
