The word course has several meanings:
- course is the direction of travel in navigation
- in sailing, a course is the principal sail on a mast
- a course (US) is a unit of instruction in one subject lasting one academic term
- a course (UK; also used at MIT) or course of study is a programme of education leading to a degree or a diploma
- in dining, a course is a single dish in a row of subsequently served dishes, constituting, for example, a three-course menu. See also main course
- course in Medicine is a regime of medical drugs
- * course in Medicine is also the speed of evolution of a disease. Diseases can have an acute, a subacute or a chronic course
