Cutblocks

A cutblock, also known as a clearcut, are units where all trees are removed in a timber harvest operation, the harvested area will either grow back naturally or can be replanted. These areas are often beneficial to wildlife as they provide areas of thick vegetation that can be used for food and/or cover. Depending on the amount of consideration taken when planning and harvesting a cutblock, they can be ecologically suistanable and beneficial or the can be ecologically detrimental. Most of us rely on wood and forestry products. Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that logging and treeplanting practices are carried out in a sustainable manner.
