Cyclops is a genus of freshwater copepods with a singe eye spot, which may be either red or black. Though sometimes difficult to observe, it has five pairs of legs. The females carry egg sacs in pairs on either side of her. The larvae, or nauplius, are free swimming and unsegmented.
