The Czech Republic sent 66 athletes to the Winter Olympics in 1998, in Nagano, Japan. The medal hopes were set on ice hockey team and Kateřina Neumannová in cross-country skiing. Ice hockey team was absolutely successful and win first gold medal for Czech Republic in history. Kateřina Neumannová was also successful, while won silver and bronze medal. Positive surprise was fourth place of freestyle skier Aleš Valenta.
