Dáin is a name of a dwarf from Norse mythology. It was borrowed by J. R. R. Tolkien as a name for two kings of Dwarves in his fictional universe of Middle-earth:

In Norse mythology, Dáin(n) is also one of the four stags of Yggdrasill, as well as the name of an elf who introduced the writing of runes to his race according to Hávamál.
