DIN (audio)
Encyclopedia : D : DI : DIN : DIN (audio)
A "DIN" is a size standard for car audio head units. The standard was established by the Deutsches Institut für Normung.
Head units generally come in either single DIN (180 x 50 mm panel) or double DIN (180 x 100 mm panel). The depth is not standard. The original German DIN standard has, since 1992, been superseded by International Standard ISO 10599.
The term DIN is not an abbreviation as thought by many, but rather a unit of measurement like centimeters, inches, and so on.
