DMV (song)
Encyclopedia : D : DM : DMV : DMV (song)
"DMV" is the second single of Primus's platinum selling Pork Soda album, preceded by "My Name Is Mud" and coming before "Mr. Krinkle." The song is about the Department of Motor Vehicles, Les Claypool relating his hellish experiences there. To exaggerate his distaste for the DMV, Claypool states if he had his druthers (his choice) he'd "screw a chimpanzee," in addition to comparisons to hell, "cold toilet seats" and dentist chairs.
Driven by Claypool's bass line, the song is nearly five minutes long, mostly due to a nearly two minute long jam session at the end, with guitarist Larry LaLonde soloing over Claypool's bass playing. The single did moderately well and featured a music video with the band playing live in front of a large crowd at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Les has admitted that this was his least favorite music video as they were told to make it, rather than of their own volition.
The song was also featured in the game Beavis and Butt-head Virtual Stupidity.
