Daallo Airlines is a Somali airline, based in Djibouti. It operates scheduled services to neighbouring countries and the Middle East with extensions to France and the UK. Its main base is Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport (JIB).

History

The airline was established in 1991 and started operations on 20 March 1991 with one Cessna aircraft. Russian aircraft were largely used in the 1990s, replaced by Boeing and Airbus aircraft enabling the launch of direct flights between Djibouti and Paris in July 2001 and flights between Djibouti and London in October 2002. It is owned by Mohammed Asusitha (50%) and Mohammed Yassin (50%).

Services

Daallo Airlines operates services to the following international scheduled destinations (at January 2005): Hargeisa, Addis Ababa, Berbera, Bossaso, Burao, Dubai, Galcaio, London, Mogadishu, Nairobi and Paris.

Fleet

The Daallo Airlines fleet consists of the following aircraft (at April 2006):

In the 1990s the airline used Tupolev Tu-154, Ilyushin Il-18, Antonov An-24 and Let 410 aircraft. In the last few years these have been replaced by Boeing 767-200, Boeing 757-200, Boeing 737-200 and Airbus A310-300 aircraft, all of which have now been returned to their lessors. The airline was also using a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 in 2003.
