Daewoo Gentra

The Daewoo Gentra is a subcompact car built by Korean company GM Daewoo, a subsidiary of General Motors. The name comes from the words "gentleman" and "transport."
The Daewoo Gentra (designated as the T250) is a further development of the Daewoo Kalos, designed in cooperation with PATAC. The sedan version was shown at the Shanghai Auto Show. It is available from launch only as a 4-door sedan; 3-door and 5-door hatchback versions will also be produced. Future designs will be integrated with the GM Gamma platform.
The Gentra began sales in September 2005. The car is rebadged as the Chevrolet Aveo in most export markets, including North America (where it will replace the Kalos-based model in mid-2006 as a 2007 model) and Europe (where it replaces the Kalos sedan; the Kalos hatchback remains in the lineup). In Mexico, it will be called the Pontiac G3. In China, it will be called the Chevrolet Lova when it is released in the spring of 2006. In Australia, the car will be sold from February 2006 as the sedan version of the Holden Barina (the hatchback version is based on the Kalos). In India, the car is introduced as the Chevrolet Aveo, with sales expected to start from August 2006.
In the European market, the car comes equipped with the 1.2 L SOHC S-TEC and the 1.4 L DOHC E-TEC II engines; Korean markets receive the 1.5 L SOHC E-TEC engine; and North American, Chinese and Australian versions will come with the 1.6 L DOHC E-TEC II engine.
