Following their review of parliamentary representation in North London, the Boundary Commission for England have created a new constituency of Dagenham and Rainham.

History

Dagenham has been Labour since the war and is considered a safe seat. The area is home to a Ford Motor Company works, which downscaled production in 2001. The far-right British National Party has enjoyed some electoral success in the area, getting a councillor elected in September 2004, and achieving nearly 10% of the vote in the 2005 General Election.
