Daidoji Masashige
Encyclopedia : D : DA : DAI : Daidoji Masashige
was the son of Daidoji Shigeoki and a retainer under the Hojo. Chief advisor of Hojo Ujimasa, he had authority over Kawagoe in Musashi and Matsuida in Kozuke. Present during the Battle of Mimasetoge and Battle of Kanagawa in 1582, Masashige was one of many generals that compromised with Hojo Ujinao to both resist Toyotomi Hideyoshi and avoid an open battle. Following the fall of the Odawara Castle, Masashige was forced to commit suicide due to advocating the action of Ujinao. After the death of Masashige, his fourth son known as Naotsugu eventually became a retainer of Tokugawa Iemitsu.
