Daigunder (爆闘宣言ダイガンダー; Bakuto Sengen Daigandaa) is an anime about humans using robots in tournaments.
Plot
Set in the future where talking robots are common, there is a tournament where robot teams pit off against each other in. The Battle Robots look like humans and transforming animals.A boy named Akira Akebono plans to win the Titan Belt with his robots Bullion, Eagle Arrow, Drimog, Bone Rex, Despector, Tri-Horn and Ryugu and Daigu who form the mighty Daigunder. The Daigunder unit was a creation of Akira's grandfather, Professor Hajime Akebono. Managed by a girl named Heruka, Team Akira enters many tournaments for Akira to reach his goal. However, there are many occasions when a Battle Robot named Ginsan is out to destroy Daigunder. Ginsan does this under the orders of the evil and mysterious Professor Maelstrom and he is later joined by Tigamaru and Rogamaru.
Characters
- Akira Akebono: Akira is one of the main characters of this show who dreams of winning the Titan Belt. He challenges other teams with his group of robots. His base of operations is Dailand and he gets around in the Daishuttle.
- Haruka: A young girl who is looking to become a manager of a Battle Robots team. After Team Akira defeats Team John and gains a Battle Robot License, she becomes Akira's manager and helps to tune up his robots. The dub has her name pronounced like "Heruka".
- Professor Hajime Akebono: Hajime Akebono is Akira's grandfather who created the Daigunder unit and the Dino Unit. He likes to travel to different places.
- Commissioner Spinklestarber: Commissioner Spinklestarber is the commissioner of the Battle Robots Tournament who observes all tournaments.
- Professor Maelstrom: Professor Maelstrom was once Professor Hajime's partner when he was originally known as Professor Daigun. Together they built DragoBurst, but when DragoBurst found out he Professor Daigun planned to use him to take over the world he fire at him, destroying the laboratory and left. Many years later he has returned complete with a metal eye due to the accident. He built Ginsan, Tigamaru and Rogamaru to defeat Daigunder for unknown purposes.
Robots
Akira's Robots
- Battle King Daigunder: A creation of Professor Hajime, Daigunder is the combination of Ryugu & Daigu. Nicknamed the "King of the Battle Robots", Daigunder can attack his enemies with his Dragon Cannon and Dragon Sword.
- * Ryugu: Ryugu is Akira's constant companion and as stuborn as he is. At first he refuses to obey Akira, until he sees Akira protect him. His attack is Knight Quake and he is a small knight robot.
- * Daigu: Daigu never fights unless fused with another robot. He cannot speak, merely say Daigu! He is a dragon robot.
- Bullion: One of the Battle Robots that belongs to Akira and attacks with his Thunder Claw attack. His animal form is a lion. He can combine with Daigu to become Battle King Daibullion.
- Bone Rex: Bone Rex is the leader of the Bonerex Unit who attacked the mayor's town when the mayor was placing an amusement park in the Dino Units area. He and the Dino Unit later joined Akira. His animal form is a tyrannosaurus. He can combine with Daigu to become Daigurex.
- Incredible Quadrable Robot Mega-Rex: Combination of Eagle Arrow, Drimog, Despector and Tri-Horn.
- * Eagle Arrow: One of the Battle Robots that belongs to Akira. He can combine with Drimog, Despector, and Tri-Horn to form Mega-Rex. He is one of the fliers of Team Akira since his animal form is an eagle. Constantly argues with Drimog.
- * Underground Fighter Drimog: One of the Battle Robots that belongs to Akira. He can combine with Eagle Arrow, Despector, and Tri-Horn to form Mega-Rex. In case you're wondering why he is such a great digger, that's because his animal form is a mole. Constantly argues with Eagle Arrow.
- * Despector: Member of the Bonerex Unit that joins Team Akira. He can combine with Tri-Horn, Eagle Arrow, and Drimog to form Mega-Rex. His animal form is a pteranodon.
- * Tri-Horn: Member of the Bonerex Unit that joins with Akira. He can combine with Eagle Arrow, Drimog, and Despector to form Mega-Rex. His animal form is a triceratops.
Maelstroms' Robots
- Ginsan: A Battle Robot that works for the mysterious Professor Maelstrom who attacks Daigunder on different occasions. He did team up with Akira and the Daigunder Unit on some occasion. After learning about honour from Daigunder he has begun to switch sides and betrayed Professor Maelstrom when he learned his true intentions and how he felt robots were merely tools, his attack is Ultra Power Blast. He can fuse with Daigunder and his animal form is a winged unicorn.
- Tigamaru & Rogamaru: A robot duo that joins up with Ginsan to destroy Daigunder. They often use deceit and trickery in their schemes to defeat Daigunder. They can combine to form one robot with either of them at the top. Tigamaru's animal form is a tiger and Rogamaru's animal form is a wolf.
Dragon Robots
- DragoBurst: A robot built by Professors Hajime and Maelstrom when they were partners, after finding out about Maelstrom's true motives he ran off and now he lives with his two companions on a space station in outer space. His ultimate goal is to get Daigunder on his team and destroy humanity. His animal form is a Black Dragon. He can combine with Daigunder to form DragoDaigunder with DragoFlame as a sword and DragoFreeze as a shield.
- DragoFlame & DragoFreeza: Two robots build by Professors Hajime and Maelstrom when they were partners, after finding out about Maelstroms true motives they ran off and now they live with their leader on a space station in outer space. DragoFlame's animal is a Fire Dragon and DragoFreeze's animal is an Ice Dragon.
