Encyclopedia : D : DA : DAL : Dalhousie (C-Train)

Dalhousie is the northwest terminus of the Northwest Line (Route 201) of the C-Train light rail system in Calgary, Alberta. The station is located in the median of Crowchild Trail, at 53 Street Northwest. The station opened on December 15, 2003, and was the first C-Train station to open with a four-car platform, particularly as the Shawnessy and Somerset-Bridlewood stations also opened with four-car platforms in 2004, the 1 Street Southwest station on the 7 Avenue Transit Mall was recently rebuilt with a four-car platform, and all stations with three-car platforms will soon be upgraded to handle four cars.

The station has stub tracks to indicate the extension to the new Centennial station, located at Nose Hill Drive, which will serve the Crowfoot neighbourhood and open in 2008. The station also has over 1,000 parking spaces. Pedestrian and pathway overpasses connect with the station.
