Dangerous Waters
Encyclopedia : D : DA : DAN : Dangerous Waters
Dangerous Waters is a naval simulation developed by Sonalysts Combat Simulations released on February 22 2005. The game features several playable vessels, including the Los Angeles-class, Akula-class, and Seawolf-class nuclear submarines, the Kilo-class diesel submarine. Dangerous Waters also models several non-submersible platforms, including the Perry-class frigate, the SH-60 Seahawk helicopter, and the P-3 Orion patrol aircraft. The game was not sold in stores, and was only available through the website [www.battlefront.com]. It received generally positive reviews, although the limited distribution and highly technical nature of the game means it is unlikely to find a very large audience.
As of December 2005 Dangerous Waters was made available at retail store Best Buy by publisher Strategy First. It is also available from a number of online stores including Amazon.com and should be in other retail stores by 2006. In early January 2006 Valve announced it would be selling Dangerous Waters via their Steam[#endnote_steam] content delivery system. The preload began January 24 2006, and was released a few weeks later, February 7.
