Darling (1965) is a British film which tells the story of an amoral model who sleeps her way to success. It stars Laurence Harvey, Dirk Bogarde and Julie Christie.
The movie was written by Frederic Raphael and directed by John Schlesinger.
Julie Christie, in an Oscar award winning role, plays Dianna an aspiring actress in search of new experiences. Sexually manipulating a string of men she works her way up through the classes and to new lands, but she herself becomes imprisoned by the jet-set lifestyle. Both Frederick Raphael (for best screenplay and original story) and Julie Harris ( for costume design ) also won Oscar awards.
It won Academy Awards for:
- Best Actress in a Leading Role - Julie Christie
- Best Costume Design, Black-and-White
- Best Writing, Story and Screenplay - Written Directly for the Screen
