Dauphine

Dauphine is the female form of the particular French feudal (comital or princely) title of Dauphin (also anglicized as Dolphin), applied to the wife of a Dauphin (usually in the sense of heir to the French royal throne).
- Also derived from dauphin is the culinary fried potato dish pommes dauphines.
- It should not be confused with the French region Dauphiné (note the accent aigu on the final é)
- Is sometimes used an abbreviated reference for the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré bicycle race.
- A university, located nearby Porte Dauphine in Paris, called University of Paris-Dauphine
- Born in 1956, a French car by Renault was called Dauphine. The story behind the name is that as the 4CV was the Queen of the road, thus the next one should be the Dauphine! Renault Dauphine
