David Edward Kirk (born 5 October 1961 in Wellington) is a former New Zealand rugby player best known for having been the captain of the All Blacks when they won the inaugural Rugby Union World Cup in 1987. Kirk was educated at the Wanganui Collegiate School and the University of Otago.

He abruptly retired from competitive rugby immediately after the World Cup win to take up a Rhodes Scholarship at Worcester College, Oxford. After his studies at Oxford, he returned to New Zealand, becoming the coach of the Wellington NPC team in 1993 and 1994 and also a media commentator. Kirk was also a staffer for Prime Minister Jim Bolger. In August 2005, John Fairfax Holdings Limited announced that Kirk would become Chief Executive Officer, replacing retiring CEO Fred Hilmer. He started as Chief Executive Officer on 17 October 2005.
