David Mitchell (born July 23 1974) is an English comedian, actor and writer, and one half of Mitchell and Webb, alongside Robert Webb, whom he met while they were both students at Cambridge. David studied History at Peterhouse. With Webb, he performed with the famous Cambridge Footlights of which he was also President.

Subsequently they have appeared in three series of the Channel 4 sitcom Peep Show (2003-ongoing), Play UK's The Mitchell and Webb Situation (2001), the short lived BBC sketch show Bruiser (2000), two series of the Radio 4 sketch show That Mitchell and Webb Sound (2003 & 2005) and an episode of BBC Three's Twisted Tales (2005), in addition to a number of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Mitchell and Webb have written for Armstrong and Miller, and Big Train. They often appear with Olivia Colman, who was in both Peep Show and That Mitchell and Webb Sound.

Mitchell has appeared on his own as a debased technical wizard on the radio sitcom Think the Unthinkable, as a useless posh surgeon in BBC2 sitcom Doctors and Nurses, as himself in Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive and as a topical talk show presenter on More4's The Last Word and Channel 4's FAQ U. He has guested on the other topical shows Have I Got News For You, Mock the Week, Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive and Channel 4's "The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2005" (in which he was on a team with Denise van Outen, finishing second). He has also written for series five of Dead Ringers on BBC2, and appeared on comedy quiz show 8 Out of 10 Cats on Channel 4 as well as the intelligentsia panel game QI on BBC2. In 2006, he appeared as a guest on TV Heaven, Telly Hell.

In 2006, Mitchell was also heard as a narrator on the "social experiment" Beauty and the Geek.

Mitchell can be heard narrating the current series of ads for the "Goodfellas Solos" range of pizzas. These ads have been airing on British television since the summer of 2006. One such ad can be downloaded [here].

He is currently recording That Mitchell and Webb Look, a sketch show for BBC2 with, among others, Robert Webb and Olivia Colman.
