Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP is a full service Canadian corporate law firm. It is known as one of the seven sisters, which consists of the top tier of law firms in Toronto. The firm has over 200 lawyers over four offices located in Toronto, Montreal, New York and Paris.
Among law students, the firm has a pejorative nickname of "slavies" for the volume of work articling students are rumoured to do.
Although Davies has had a pejorative history in the past, it is the only major Bay Street firm that does not set billable hours targets for its students. As a result, the workload is arguably less than many other firms.
