Dawat-e-Islami is a non-political, purely religious, international propagational movement. Its principle objective is to preach and guide Muslims to act upon the teachings of Qur'an and Sunnah of Muhammad(sallalahu alahiwasallam) and kindling their hearts with the compassionate love of The prophet Muhammad(Sallalahu alaihi wasallam).
Origin
Dawat-e-Islami was started under the auspices of Ameer-e-Ahlesunnat Abul Bilal Moulana Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri in 1980 at Karachi. The movement has since spread all over the world.Activities
Different activities of Dawat-e-Islami, to guide people to practice teachings of Qur'an and [Sunnah] are as under:1) Lesson from Faizan-e-Sunnat :
‘Faizan-e-Sunnat’ is compiled by Ameer-e-Ahlesunnat. This book contains Sunnahs of Muhammad about every aspect of life. Lessons from this book are given to the gathering daily after every Salat in the mosque. This practice of teaching Sunnah exist in thousands of mosques in the world.
2) Naiki Ki Dawat (Invitation of Piety) :
It is an important activity in which a group of Islamic brothers led by a preacher go door to door in their area to give "Naiki Ki Dawat." They also ask people to come with them to the mosque where the preacher guides them to follow the Qur'an and Sunnah in their daily lives. The statement of invitation uttered by preacher in this activity is composed by Ameer-e-Ahlesunnat.
3) Madani Qafila (Delegation for Preaching) :
To preach and teach fundamentals of the Qur'an and Sunnah, Madani Qafilas travel in every nook and corner of the country and abroad. These Qafilas work for 3 days, 4 days, 12 days or 30 days; each comprises of at least six Islamic brothers and is sent to a village, city or country.
4) Madani Gifts :
Madani Gifts are 72 ritual deeds based upon the Qur'an and Sunnah. Every Islamic brother/sister is asked to act upon these deeds as much as possible and also fill in its specific form to evaluate the performance. The aim of this program is to give Muslims the habit of acting upon the Sunnah in every aspect of life.
5) Madani Ijtima (Congregation) :
a) Weekly Ijtima : Weekly Ijtima are held on ‘Saturday’/ ‘Friday’ after Asar/Maghrib Prayer at centres in all the major cities of the country and at few places abroad.
These ijtimas are attended by thousands of people and the program comprises of recitation of Qur'an and Na’ats. Then two lectures (Bayans) are given before and after Isha prayers; in the end remembrance (Zikr) of Allah and Du’a is done. After that, participants form small gatherings (Halaqas) and a ‘preacher’ in each Halaqa teach Sunnahs on specific topic to the listeners. After these ‘Halaqas’ participants are advised to take meals and then rest till Tahajjud. Afterwards, they offer Tahjjud prayers and then Fajr prayers. After prayers, a short lecture is given to the gathering and finally the ijtima concludes by offering Salat-o-Salam, or praises on Muhammad.
Similarly, weekly ijtimas for Ladies (Islamic sisters) are held at Faizan-e-Madinah, Karachi on Sunday between Zuhr and Asr prayers.
b) Annual Ijtima :
It is an international three days Ijtima held at Sehra-e-Madinah in Multan, Pakistan. Large number of Ulemas (Scholars), and Islamic brothers attend this Ijtima and it's programs are also relayed to different cities; thus millions of Muslims round the globe can hear the bayans and du’as offered in this gathering.
6) Madani Tarbiatgah (Institution) :
It is the name given to chain of various institutes organized by Dawat-e-Islami that are located at different places in the country and overseas. The objectives of this institution are as follows: a) To teach recitation (Nazra) of the Qur'an with standard pronunciation, and to guide students to learn by heart (Hifz) the Qur'an. b) A comprehensive course of ‘Shariah’ for 8 years is also offered in these Madani institutes; to make student scholars of Islam. c) To teach and guide students to act upon the Sunnah in daily life. d) Various short courses e.g. Imam Course, Preacher Course, etc. are also offered in these institutions.
7) Maktab-tul-Madina :
This unit of Dawat-e-Islami publishes and distributes religious books, booklets, pamphlates. It also releases audio cassettes and CDs of Qirat, Na'at, Speeches, etc.
The purpose of this activity is to spread Islamic literature as much as possible at minimum prices to Muslims in the country and overseas.
