Daxter (Jak and Daxter)
Encyclopedia : D : DA : DAX : Daxter (Jak and Daxter)
Daxter is the secondary character from the Jak and Daxter video game series. He is voiced by Max Casella. In the Japanese version, he is voiced by Teiyu Ichiryusai (一龍斎 貞友).
Daxter was a young boy living in Sandover Village, along with Jak. At the beginning of the first game, the duo went to Misty Island which Samos the Green Sage told them to stay away from. When they are surprised by a Lurker, Jak accidentally knocks Daxter into a pool of Dark Eco, turning him into an ottsel. At the end of their first adventure, it turns out that the only person who could help him was also the game's main villain.
In Jak II, Daxter escapes the Krimzon Guard when they capture Jak. After two years he reaches Jak in prison and helps him escape. Once again he plays the role of the sidekick, but at one point he gets to participate in a race alone. Over the course of this game, he flirts quite a bit with Tess.
In Jak 3, Daxter plays a slightly more active role in helping Jak during the course of their adventure. At the end of the game, it is revealed that the Precursors themselves are ottsels, and that Daxter was actually blessed rather than cursed when he became an ottsel. The Precursors offer him 'his deepest desire.' He decides on a 'snazzy pair of pants', which he is granted.
A spinoff game for the Sony PlayStation Portable called Daxter was released March 14th, 2006. It takes place during the two years that Jak was in prison and Daxter was alone in Haven City. In this game, Daxter apparently did not do much until the very end of the two years (he apparently spent most of the time frequenting a bar and telling tall tales of his escapades). During one of his stories, a bug exterminator named Ozmo hired Daxter as one of his employees, which gives Daxter access thorughout the city. During his adventure, he has apparently met Brutter the Lurker and Erol (characters in Jak II) along with several never-before-mentioned characters, such as Ximon, Ozmo's son and Tayrn, a bug-hunter who supplies Daxter with weapons. He also ends up eliminating Kaedan, Kor's right-hand man (or Metal-Head-) of sorts right before acsending the elevator and rescuing Jak.
