Daystar Television Network

Encyclopedia : D : DA : DAY : Daystar Television Network

rightThe Daystar Television Network claims to be the 2nd largest Christian Television Network, broadcasting all over the world. It is available with terrestrial and cable television network in the United States. It is also available on the DirecTV (ch. 369) direct broadcast satellite service, DISH Network (ch. 9408). The company offers religious programming 24/7. Daystar is headquartered in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex suburb of Bedford, Texas.

The Daystar network is composed of two VHF and 36 UHF television stations, which each broadcast all or part of Daystar's program lineup. The majority of Daystar's affiliate stations are located in the American South. The majority of Daystar's broadcasts are from groups and individuals aligned with various charismatic and Pentecostal movements. Additionally, Daystar airs programs from many of the same controversial televangelists, such as Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copeland, as does TBN. However, unlike TBN the Daystar network airs programs from people such as Jerry Johnston, David Reagan, Kerry Shook, Sid Roth, Jack Graham and Hal Lindsey. Daystar also broadcasts the weekly show Rejoice in the Lord from Pensacola Christian College, which is directly opposed to the charismatic movement as a whole.

Daystar's founders are Marcus Lamb and his wife, Joni Lamb.

Unlike the larger Christian network, Trinity Broadcasting Network, Daystar and its founders have not yet been the center of public criticism regarding its internal operations. However, Daystar is currently under investigation by the Federal Communications Commission for alleged wrong-doing on its educational television stations and public interest channels on DISH Network and DirecTV.
