Decade: Greatest Hits
Encyclopedia : D : DE : DEC : Decade: Greatest Hits
- For other albums titled Decade, see decade (disambiguation).
The remix single "Burning The Ground" was released to radio to promote this album; it was created by producer John Jones mixing snippets of the band's biggest hits from the previous decade into a new piece of music. However, it wasn't included on the Decade album, and the CD single, released only in the UK, was only pressed up in a batch of 2,000 making it one of the more valuable Duran Duran rarities.
On a whole, the Decade album acted more as a mixed tape of Duran hits, as opposed to an essential album. It cherry picked hits from all the albums and presented them in mixes that were popular and mainstream among the public. Hence, you get the Nile Rodgers edit of "The Reflex" and the radio edits of "Notorious" and "Skin Trade".
Curiously, the album (probably due to time contraints) left off one single from each album: "Careless Memories", "My Own Way", "New Moon On Monday", "Meet El Presidente" and "Do You Believe In Shame?". Again, these were probably left off of because Decade was used to drum up mainstream interest in the band, being a "greatest hits" compilation.
