Deities of Arcanis

Encyclopedia : D : DE : DEI : Deities of Arcanis

The Deities of Arcanis are sectioned off into different pantheons. The main pantheon is the Pantheon of Man, of which human gods reside. Other pantheons such as the Pantheon of the Elves, are broken, or destroyed leaving only one or no gods behind.

In Arcanis, "true" gods are unconcerned with petty mortal morality, so have no alignment as gods in other settings do; only churches have alignment, depending on what aspects of a god they worship. The Pantheon of Man, for example, does not have alignment, but the Ss'regorean Varn Gods do.

The Pantheon of Man

The three brother gods, the Head of the Pantheon and his two brothers, are the first three gods of the pantheon: Further, three Goddesses are their sisters: These are the children of Illiir and Saluwé: The Child of Neroth and Beltine: They have a son: Part of the pantheon, but with no known relationships with the rest: During an incident known as the God War, the Pantheon of Man was brought into conflict with a being humans know only as The Other. Unable to defeat him and believing that he had absorbed the life force of the Elorii god Belisarda, Illir ordered the gods Hurrian, Nier, Yarris and Saluwé to do the unthinkable. These four attacked and absorbed the essence of the remaining four Elorii Gods, the Elemental Lords. This is why these four Human Gods have elemental aspects.

Cadic became the God of Shadows in a similar fashion, absorbing the essence of the previous (nameless?) God of Shadows.

The Ss'ressen and Ss'regorean Gods

The Ss'regorean Empire once worshipped the gods: With the ascension of the Naga to a ruling position in the Empire, they have begun to worship a pantheon known as the Varn:

The Elorii Pantheon

The Elorii follow the Elemental Lords which created them, despite the destruction of four of them. The remaining Elemental Lord, the life spirit Belisarda, was believed to have been destroyed by The Other (or Umor, as the Elorii knew him), until the arrival of a Prophet who claimed this was not true.
