The
Democratic Party (
Demokrat Partisi) is a conservative
political party in
Northern Cyprus. President of the
Democratic Party is
Serdar Denktas, son of the ex-president
Rauf Denktas. The Democratic Party is part of a coalition government with the
CTP. Serdar Denktas is in the de facto government as the
Deputy Prime Minister and
Foreign Minister.
At the last
legislative elections for the House of Representatives of Northern Cyprus,
20 January,
2005, the party won 13.5 % of the popular vote and 6 out of 50 seats. Its candidate, Mustafa Arabacioglu, won at the Northern Cyprus presidential elections of
17 April, 2005, 13.3 % of the votes.
