In the United Kingdom, the Department for Transport is the government department responsible for the transport network. The department is run by the Secretary of State for Transport, currently Douglas Alexander. It is not to be confused with the United States Department of Transportation.

The department for transport has been reorganised a number of times in its history, particularly under the current government, being known as or part of:

The name "Ministry of Transport" lives on in the MOT test, which vehicles registered in the UK are required to pass on an annual basis.
