Derek Sherinian is a keyboardist based in Los Angeles, California. His most notable achievements are as a member of Dream Theater, Alice Cooper and Yngwie Malmsteen's bands, and as a session musician for KISS. Sherinian is of Armenian descent.

With Dream Theater, he recorded the albums A Change of Seasons (1995), Falling Into Infinity (1997) and Once In A LIVEtime (1998) before being replaced in 1999 by Jordan Rudess.

Since 2000, Sherinian has recorded several solo records on which artists like Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde and Steve Lukather have lent their talents. Most notable of all Planet X, recorded with Australian drummer Virgil Donati, which led to the formation of the group of the same name, as Sherinian and Donati decided to expand on the concept by recruiting guitar virtuoso Tony MacAlpine. Since 2002, Sherinian is constantly touring with Billy Idol. Also, he has recorded several tribute records.

The fifth Derek's solo album is currently in the works and will be released in 2006. It is said to feature Slash, Zakk Wylde, John Petrucci, Steve Lukather, Simon Phillips, Tony Franklin, and Brian Tichy. [link]. A video for the cover of Mungo Jerry's "In The Summertime" featuring Derek, Billy Idol, Slash, Tony Franklin, and Brian Ticky was shot in the Spring of 2006, and will be released to video outlets in July.
