Desak the God Slayer

The character Desak was introduced in Thor Annual 2001. He later became a major part of a storyline that led Thor (and all of earth) nearly 200 years into the future.
Origin
Desak originally hails from an unknown planet far from Earth. There, his daughter Loatia was sacrificed to appease that planet's god, Kronnit. However, Kronitt was unhappy with the sacrifice, and attacked his people, claiming that they were all blasphemers and sinners. One of the millions of innocents murdered was his wife, Almonnas. Consumed by grief, Desak meekly accepted his fate, and awaited his death at the hands of his god. That is, until the Designate intervined.
Freezing Kronitt in time and appearing to Desak in a vision, she offered him an offer he couldn't refuse: the ability to avenge his family in return for his entire existence becoming devoted to the destruction of corrupt and power-mad "gods".
Desak readily accepted.
From that day forth, he became Desak, the God Slayer, empowered by a mystical jewel given to him by the Designate. Desak began his murderous career by annihilating Kronitt – and the entire planet of weak, spineless beings who blindly worshipped him.
Thor
Thor was alerted to the activities of Desak as the God Slayer was dealing with the corrupt deities known as Pennsu and Tae. Thor enlisted the aid of Hercules and Beta Ray Bill in halting Desak's mad rampage. Unfortunately, these two were god-powered as well, which only served to fuel Desak's rage. Sensing that Thor was one of the most powerful gods in the entire universe, Desak attempted to destroy him, until Thor tried to convince Desak that he may be powerful, but he was not, by definition, evil. Desak countered that power corrupts, and Thor's power would eventually make him one of the most corrupt and evil beings in all of existence – whether he was willing to admit that or not.So they made a deal. Thor swore that he would never abuse his power, and Desak agreed to allow Thor to live until he did. They parted on unfriendly, but stable, terms.
The Death of Odin
Desak "saw" the death of Odin as he was "liberating" a race of people from their benevolent god. He understood that Thor had not yet accepted the mantle of the Odinpower, and that Tarene ("Thor-Girl") was severely weakened. He acknowledged that now would be the opportune time to strike, but did not, in accordence to his vow to Thor. Still, he began to grow uneasy with Thor inheriting so much power at once.Desak contented himself with destroying the Dark Gods, who were released following Odin's death. Only two escaped – Perrikus and Adva. Desak was preparing to follow them when he was contacted by Zarrko, the Tomorrow Man. Zarrko informed Desak that the real threat was the God of Thunder, not some petty deities that could do no harm to anyone.
Desak traveled to Earth, where he encountered Jake Olsen masquerading as Thor. Believing Olsen to be the real Thor, Desak attacked him, urged on by the "Spirit of the Jewel", who had not appeared to him since that one fateful day. Believing her presence now indicated a supremely important battle, Desak opted to use the "Tools of Ultimate Negation", his most powerful attack. Jake survived, but was met by the real Thor, who siphoned off Jake's powers into himself. When Desak arrived, Thor stood alone.
Desak and Thor tore through Manhattan, devastating much of the city. Thor reminded Desak of his vow, but Desak claimed that Thor (having recently accepted the Odinforce) was nowto powerful to trust. They battled to a standstill, at which point Thor exhausted himself fully by calling upon the full power of the Odinpower and concentrating it into a single blast directed toward Desak's chest.
Where hung the jewel.
Desak absorbed the blast, restoring himself and becoming even more powerful in the process; Thor was now completely without reserve. Desak began mauling him, and almost beheaded him, save for Thialfi's timely intervention, and for the weapon he brought: the Bloodaxe of Skurge, the Executioner. With it, Thor effectively ended Desak's career, almost cleaving him in half.
Rebirth
But Desak was not finished. The Designate retrieved his body, and began a slow healing process. It would be nearly 200 years before Desak arose again; but when he did, he did so with a vengeance.Thor had eventually taken over Earth (as Desak knew he would), believing it to be the only way to truly protect it. The occasion was the discovery by Thor's son, Magni, of Mjolnir, his father's enchanted hammer, which Thor had long ago lost the right to wield. The sudden upsurge in godly power awakened Desak from his long slumber, and he trailed it to Earth.
There, Desak waged a one-man war on New Asgard (formerly New York). He succeeded in killing every single god except for Loki (Thor's Sorcerror Supreme and chief advisor), Amora the Enchantress (Thor's wife and queen), Magni, and Thor himself. Loki attempted to destroy both Desak and Thor by activating the Destroyer, which was being powered by the lifeforce of Tarene, who was formerly Thor-Girl. It was then revealed that Tarene would one day have evolved into the very Designate that had spawned Desak. Sensing a connection to the Destroyer, Desak was able to absorb its power, sheathing himself in the armor itself. Eventually, Thor called upon the full force of the Odinpower, channel it through Mjolnir (which his righteous cause had allowed him to lift again), and finally strike Desak dead.
