Detective Story is a 1951 film which tells the story of one day in the lives of the various people who populate a police detectives squad. It stars Kirk Douglas, Eleanor Parker, William Bendix, Cathy O'Donnell and Lee Grant.
The movie was adapted by Robert Wyler and Philip Yordan from the play by Sidney Kingsley. It was directed by William Wyler.
Plot
An embittered cop Det. Jim McLeod (Douglas) leads a precinct of characters in their grim daily battle with the city's lowlife. In the station this day includes a young petty embezzler, a pair of burglers and a naive shoplifter. Little does McLeod realize that his obsessive pursuit of an abortionist (Macready) is leading him to personal disaster.Featured cast
