Devil Kings

Devil Kings is a video game very similar to the Dynasty Warriors series. It was made by Capcom exclusively for the PlayStation 2. In Japan, it is known as Sengoku Basara.
Although Devil Kings is almost identical to dynasty warriors in it's set up and level design it does boast the creative input of the people behind Resident Evil and Devil May Cry which makes this game play more like an extreme version of Dynasty warriors or rather Samurai warriors. The characters have been imbued with the same amount of power given to the Onimusha characters with even the Devil king himself seeming like Nobunaga. The other characters oddly enough seem to play like some of capcoms other characters like Lady Butterfly who is reminiscent of Dante in gun slinger mode or the Azure Dragon as Dante in swordmaster(?) mode. This clash of the familiar character types and gameplay makes for a rather enjoyable game...although it still retains Dynasty warriors main low point of the player spending upwards of an hour and a half defeating the hundreds of low powered enemies and collecting items only to be killed at the very end of the level by the boss or sub/ co boss and having to restart over feeling as frustrated as ever.
