Dichistius

The galjoen fishes are a small family, Dichistiidae, of perciform fishes. There are just two species in the family in the single genus Dichistius:
- The galjoen, Dichistius capensis (Cuvier, 1831), is a shallow-water reef-associated fish found in coastal waters of the south-east Atlantic Ocean and off South Africa. It reaches 80 cm in length.
- The banded galjoen, Dichistius multifasciatus (Pellegrin, 1914), is a deep-water marine fish found in the western Indian Ocean and off South Africa. It grows to 35 cm long.
